Child behavior

I have a 15-month old daughter that has been hitting herself on the head lately. I was concerned about this behavior until I found on bloggingbaby.com that it's a very common behavior for her age and perfectly normal, as long as they aren't seriously injuring themselves. While I'm comforted to know it's age appropriate, can anyone give me some insight into why she might be doing this? It doesn't seem to be at any particular time like when she's tired or upset or being told "no"... in fact, it seems to start randomly and after she hits her face or head 3 or 4 times (especially her eyes, with a cupped hand) she looks at me expectantly, like I'm supposed to praise her! Any help out there?
