My daughter was on Medicaid until she was a year old. Although I felt embarrassed about having Medicaid, they paid for EVERYTHING. When I moved to Austin, it was a terrible pain going to the office over and over and waiting for hours to get our address straightened out, but I thought it was completely worth it.

They've now changed the income guidelines for Medicaid and she no longer qualifies, so she now has CHIPS, which is part of the same program but for families that make too much for Medicaid.
